Army Height & Weight Calculator
This new Army height and weight calculator uses the 2026 waist-to-height standard, not the old AR 600-9 screening weights. Enter height and navel waist. Age and gender no longer change the pass line.

2026 Army height and weight standards
The Army height weight calculator people bookmarked for years was a sex-by-age screening table. That table is gone. Army Directive 2026-13 made waist-to-height ratio the only body-composition screen. If you still have a printout of AR 600-9 Table B-1, treat it as history.
How to measure: height in stocking feet. Waist at the navel, not the narrowest point, typically to the next 0.5 inch down. Divide waist by height. Truncate to three decimals. 38.4 / 70 = 0.548 passes. 38.5 / 70 = 0.550 fails.
Height to maximum waist (current standard)
One table for male and female, every age. Max waist is the largest 0.5-inch step that still truncates below 0.550.
| Height | Max navel waist to pass | WHtR at that waist |
|---|---|---|
| 58 in | 31.5 in | 0.543 |

What happened to the gender and age weight tables?
AR 600-9 Table B-1 listed a maximum screening weight for each height, split by male/female and age. Soldiers over that weight went to a tape test. That two-step logic is why people still search "fail height and weight but pass body fat." In 2026 those are not two tests. They are one ratio.
This page does not reprint Table B-1 cell by cell. The PDF on armypubs is the historical source. Publishing guessed numbers would be worse than saying the table is rescinded. Use the waist chart above for the live standard, then the Army body fat calculator if you want the old DoD tape percent for comparison.

Army height and weight FAQ
What are the new Army height and weight standards?
As of 7 July 2026 the Army dropped the old AR 600-9 height and weight screening tables. The new Army height and weight calculator standard is a waist-to-height ratio below 0.550. Measure waist at the navel, divide by height in inches, and truncate to three decimals. 0.549 passes. 0.550 fails. Age and gender do not change that line.
Can you fail height and weight but pass body fat?
Not under the 2026 rule. Height/weight and body fat are the same screen: WHtR. There is no tape-test override and no AFT 465 exemption. If the ratio is 0.550 or higher you fail body composition, even with a max AFT.
Does the Army height weight calculator still use age and gender tables?
No. Those screening weights were sex- and age-banded. The 2026 Army height and weight calculator uses one table: height to maximum navel waist. Sex and age stay on this form so you can compare the old way, but they do not change the pass line.
Where do the 2026 standards come from?

Is weight still part of the Army height and weight test?
You can enter weight here for your own log. The Army no longer uses a maximum weight by height to pass or fail. Waist and height decide the result.
